Description

Pegasus 50 – Performance Bluewater Yacht in Near-New Condition

The Pegasus 50 comes from a young but already highly regarded shipyard in Slovenia. The design goal: to unite comfort, safety, quality, and performance in a modern bluewater cruiser – without the compromises that are often accepted elsewhere. This yacht is aimed at people who truly enjoy sailing – sometimes faster – and who value good, well-thought-out handling, even when sailing single- or double-handed. At the same time, it offers a high level of onboard comfort, with abundant natural light, a clever layout, and equipment designed for self-sufficient life at sea.

If you find that typical bluewater yachts often feel heavy and sluggish, this is an exciting alternative. Pegasus has moved the slider further towards performance, without losing sight of long-distance practicality. The yard focuses on innovative, real-world solutions for long-distance cruisers and discerning owners. Each yacht is a true eye-catcher. Hull No. 6, in striking metallic red, was built in 2023 and is in near-new condition. She has primarily served as a demonstrator for SK-Yachting in Turkey. Because each Pegasus is built with great care by hand, many details have been refined and improved over the build sequence – both visually and technically.

We have tested STEVE WONDER extensively, and our video shows her in detail, including under sail. If you want to know how the yacht feels on the water, you’ll get honest impressions here – from design to sea behaviour. A digital 360° tour of the yacht is also available.

Comfort
The interior of the Pegasus 50 is designed so you can move around safely even when heeled: short distances, central walkways, plenty of handholds. The connection between cockpit and saloon is via just two steps – unusually low and extremely comfortable. The deck saloon is perhaps the highlight of the Pegasus. Large windows create an airy, bright space with excellent ventilation and a 360° view.
A special feature: the saloon seating area is gimballed and electrically height-adjustable. On long upwind passages, you can set it level to eat, work, or sleep comfortably despite the heel – a feature that is rare, perhaps unique. The saloon table can be lowered to form a large lounging area.

The U-shaped galley to port, next to the saloon, has a stainless-steel worktop, abundant storage, numerous handholds, and a central furniture block – allowing safe cooking at sea without being cut off from the crew. The forward-facing navigation station offers good visibility and is also a pleasant workspace at anchor or in port. The 27" movable touchscreen functions both as a plotter and, via HDMI input, as a TV.

Private living spaces begin forward of the saloon, far from the engine and generator – ensuring quiet. The owner’s cabin and single berth are positioned centrally in the hull to minimise motion at sea. The Pegasus 50 has two double cabins, each with its own spacious en-suite with separate shower: the owner’s cabin to starboard, the guest V-berth forward. Storage is generous, with additional large lockers and shelves in the portside single berth.

Safety
The Pegasus was designed with long-distance cruising and offshore seaworthiness in mind. It starts with a deep, well-protected cockpit with fixed windscreen and extended coachroof. The mainsheet runs on a solid arch, keeping the entire cockpit free of lines. All active sailing takes place aft, behind the twin helms, each with its own plotter. All lines lead to four large two-speed electric winches.
Numerous handholds inside and on deck maintain safety at all times. Below deck, the layout ensures that even in sudden heeling, there is little distance to fall. In the bow, a fully sealed “crash box” under the anchor locker protects against water ingress in case of frontal collision. The Pegasus is divided into three watertight compartments. All through-hull fittings are grouped, corrosion-free, well-labelled, and easily accessible – ideal for inspection and maintenance. All onboard systems are selected to meet the highest standards of durability and safety.

Quality
The Pegasus Yachts team brings extensive experience in building performance yachts – and it shows. Offshore sailors value robust, well-engineered solutions, and that’s exactly where the focus lies here: long-lasting, easily accessible, and service-friendly systems.
Generous cockpit lockers are organised by function; the engine sits centrally beneath the cockpit sole; technical spaces are laid out so you can work comfortably without squeezing into awkward corners. The Pegasus 50 is built in carbon sandwich construction, reducing weight and increasing stiffness.

At sea, she sails quietly, free from creaking joinery. The fit-out is solid and functional, overbuilt where reliability matters most. High-quality synthetic leather and real wood elements, paired with clean contrasts, create a modern, harmonious interior. The workmanship is so precise that barely any joints are visible – a detail owners who appreciate fine craftsmanship will enjoy. On deck, Esthec synthetic teak with white seams is used – much lighter and lower-maintenance than natural teak.

Performance
Thanks to carbon and light sandwich construction, the Pegasus 50 weighs just 12,300 kg lightship, 15,350 kg fully loaded – remarkably low for a yacht of this size with true bluewater capability and full cruising inventory. She accelerates easily in light airs. According to the polar diagram and practical tests, at 20 knots of wind and 100° TWA, speeds up to 12.5 knots are achievable – comfortably, even under autopilot.
The cast-iron tandem keel with lead bulb and twin rudders give excellent manoeuvrability and control, in both heavy weather and harbour situations. The retractable bow thruster (8.7 hp) assists with docking. The rig features premium components: rod rigging, a carbon mast, and an impressive grey sail wardrobe in tri-radial Hydranet. The standard mainsail and genoa are ideal for 15–20 knots of breeze, depending on course. In heavy weather or for upwind work, a self-tacking jib can be set. In light airs, a gennaker flies from the carbon bowsprit.

Conclusion
If you enjoy sailing fast but don’t want to sacrifice liveaboard comfort and self-sufficiency, this yacht will make you very happy – whether for extended cruising or holiday adventures. The Pegasus 50 is for those who find conventional bluewater yachts too heavy-handed, preferring instead elegant, sporty design combined with top-tier build quality and sailing performance. And honestly – how many yachts let you adjust your saloon sofa to the boat’s heel?
STEVE WONDER is professionally maintained by SK-Yachting and will be handed over in impeccable condition. A comprehensive handover briefing for the new owner is available. The yacht can remain in SK-Yachting’s service programme if desired. Hull No. 1, with its orange finish, is also on site. Viewings in Marmaris can be arranged at any time; nearest airports are Dalaman, Rhodes, and Izmir. Compared to a new build – currently around €1.25 million ex VAT – this young, superbly equipped Pegasus 50 offers a rare opportunity: essentially as new, but well below the new-build price.
