Description
The JV52 “TAJO” is an extraordinary performance sailing yacht, built as a one-off in reference to the TP52 class, designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co. – one of Europe’s most renowned yacht design offices. “TAJO” combines outstanding sailing performance with high-quality living comfort, safety, and autonomy, creating a fascinating compromise between both worlds – for the ambitious bluewater cruiser as well as for racing enthusiasts. With a length of 16 meters, a lifting keel (draft 1.80 m – 3.20 m), a displacement of only about 15 tons, and a carbon mast with four sets of spreaders paired with powerful Elvstrøm membrane sails (2018), “TAJO” is built for fast passages – daily runs of over 200 nautical miles are no exception.
Her sporting pedigree becomes even more apparent on closer inspection: the carbon bowsprit carries either a gennaker or a Code Zero, the jib runs on one of two self-tacking systems, and despite the raised seating area in the saloon, the coachroof remains sleek and low. The rod rigging ensures exceptional stiffness. The deck minimalism is crowned by the folding anchor, which disappears into the anchor locker while under sail. Handling has been optimized for a small crew: sails are controlled by hydraulic push-button systems, as are the lifting keel, the retractable bow thruster, and the Andersen cockpit winches. All running rigging leads back to the twin helms, which are unusually but very effectively positioned directly by the companionway. The minimalist yet comfortable design philosophy continues below deck. The yacht features a spacious owner’s cabin forward with ensuite head and separate shower, a raised seating area creating a bright deck-saloon atmosphere, a practical longitudinal galley with Corian worktops, and an extravagantly designed navigation station. A guest cabin aft to port offers bunk beds. The interior is not only stylish but also easy to maintain thanks to the predominant use of lightweight composite sandwich panels, mostly structurally integrated into the hull, ensuring a strong and stiff construction. A highlight is the large dinghy garage, providing ample storage for tender, SUP, or diving gear, with access via the hydraulic bathing platform. Long-term autonomy is ensured by extensive onboard equipment: a Fischer Panda generator (148 h), a Schenker watermaker (60 l/h), air conditioning (split system), diesel heating, washing machine, and large tanks (500 l fresh water / 350 l fuel) provide a high degree of independence on extended passages. The electrical system includes a 24V AGM service bank (360 Ah), shore power connections at both bow and stern, inverter/charger, and modern SIMRAD navigation electronics including radar, AIS, and autopilot. The yacht has been consistently maintained and upgraded – most recently with a new bimini (2024), sprayhood with carbon frame (2021), and new sail covers (2025/2019). “TAJO” is CE certified Category A (Ocean), making her equally suitable for transoceanic passages as well as fast cruising in the Mediterranean or Baltic. Her excellent performance has been proven during trial sails off Chioggia, Italy, even in light winds. With her unique, minimalist presence – both outside and inside – she appeals to sailors who are looking for something truly extraordinary, valuing both sailing performance and onboard comfort.
Viewings can be arranged by appointment at her berth in Chioggia, Italy.
