How the survey works:

Technical Inspection

We check the yacht inside and out:

  • Engine test (if afloat);

  • Moisture measurement (GRP) or thickness measurement (steel/aluminium) if ashore;

  • Check of all systems onboard: electronics, equipment, rigging, steering, etc.

List of defects and recommendations:

We document all current and foreseeable maintenance or repairs.

Written report

E.g., for insurance.

Joint inspection (optional)

Be present, ask questions, and get to know your future boat better.

On our YouTube channel, we’ve published over 100 client case videos and shown the inspection process in detail many times.

How We Guide Through the Whole Process

We’re sailors ourselves, and our goal is to help you find a yacht that truly suits you. That’s why we usually start the buying process together with our clients and guide them step by step from the first idea all the way to handover.

Our clients stories

FP Lavezzi 40

Hi Dominik, thought I’d drop you a quick message. I’m currently in the middle of the Atlantic on night watch (this message will send once we switch the internet back on). The wind has been quite pleasant so far, mostly between 15 and 20 knots. Since yesterday afternoon we finally have proper following wind.

The boat continues to perform really well. We’re very happy with our choice. Especially the “modest” size of only 40 feet has already earned us some great harbour spots and moorings. Friends with a slightly larger cat didn’t get nearly as lucky 😁Oh, and every now and then people ask us about you guys. Then I always have to think very carefully about what to say 🤪 Just kidding — there’s nothing to think about. It always ends with a clear recommendation for you 🙃

"Anahita" Jeanneau 43 DS

Excellent support all around — from the search phase to long after the purchase. Especially at the beginning, many things were unclear: which boats are really worth considering, and where is it actually worth travelling to? The BootsProfis handled numerous conversations with brokers and owners in advance, which saved us a lot of time and travel costs. Thanks to their experience and focused preselection, we only had to view one single boat ourselves in the end. The survey was honest and detailed, with nothing glossed over. Even after the purchase, we could always ask questions — incredibly valuable, especially when buying your first boat. Today, three years later, we are still completely happy with our Anahita. Many thanks to the entire BootsProfis team — we would choose you again anytime.

"Astridos" Westerly 38 Oceanranger

The search was very focused and well coordinated, with clear criteria regarding size, condition, equipment, and budget. It led fairly quickly to a Westerly Oceanranger 38 — a boat I probably would never have considered on my own.

Thanks to the careful preselection, the first viewing was already very promising. After the sea trial and survey, it was clear: a solid boat at a fair price. And after nearly 3,000 nautical miles, I can say that I’m sailing a yacht that truly suits me — one whose sailing characteristics and qualities I genuinely appreciate.

On top of that, I continue to receive very helpful tips through the growing BootsProfis network. What more could you ask for? Many thanks to the team, and always a hand’s breadth of water under the keel.

"K-MAG Cruise" Catana 39 Katamaran

My experience with BootsProfis was consistently positive. My boat search took about a year, and thanks to their guidance, everything ultimately came together perfectly for the purchase I had planned. The team has an excellent overview of the yacht market and often knows about boats that aren’t even listed yet.

Our communication was always professional and very informative for me. The valuation and survey of my boat were realistic, and the joint planning of the refit budget turned out to be spot on. Today, I’m completely happy with my yacht — and I would recommend working with BootsProfis at any time, especially when buying your first boat.
